Abstract

Advances in communication technology and the digital economy have opened up various new business opportunities that can be leveraged by the younger generation. However, preliminary observations at SMK Pelita Nusa Subang indicate that students’ use of communication technology is still predominantly focused on consumer-oriented activities, while their understanding of digital entrepreneurship, digital marketing, digital branding, and the digital economy remains relatively low. Therefore, this Community Service (PKM) activity aims to improve students’ digital entrepreneurship literacy, their understanding of the digital economy, and their motivation to utilize communication technology as a means of business development. The method used in this activity is community education through a participatory approach that includes the stages of needs assessment, preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The activity was conducted through interactive lectures, discussions, demonstrations, simple practical exercises, and evaluations using pre-test and post-test instruments. The results of the activity showed an increase in students’ understanding of the concepts of communication technology-based entrepreneurship and the digital economy, as evidenced by higher post-test scores compared to pre-test scores. In addition, students demonstrated improved abilities in identifying digital business opportunities, understanding the use of social media as a marketing tool, developing digital branding concepts, and designing simple business models. This activity also succeeded in boosting students’ motivation and self-confidence to start digital-based businesses. The impact of the activity was evident not only in the participants’ increased knowledge and skills but also in a shift in students’ mindset from being merely consumptive users of technology to becoming more productive and innovative. Thus, this program contributes to preparing vocational high school students to be adaptable, creative, and competitive in facing the developments of the digital economy.
